Diese kumulative Dissertation untersucht die Aushandlungsprozesse von Migration in ländlichen Fallstudien mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Fluchtmigration in Deutschland. Ländliche Regionen werden hierbei sowohl als räumlicher Kontext für Migrationsprozesse als auch als Produktionsorte von Migrationsgesellschaften betrachtet. Als übergeordnete Forschungsperspektive dient der Ansatz ‚lokaler Migrationsregime‘. Die empirischen Grundlagen der Dissertation bilden überwiegend qualitative Daten aus zwei Forschungsprojekten, die zwischen 2018 und 2023 in verschiedenen deutschen Kommunen unterschiedlicher Größe durchgeführt wurden: Das Verbundforschungsprojekt „Zukunft für Geflüchtete in ländlichen Regionen Deutschlands“ sowie das internationale Verbundprojekt „Whole-COMM - Exploring the Integration of Post-2014 Migrants in Small and Medium-Sized Towns and Rural Areas from a Whole of Community Perspective“. Die Dissertation umfasst sechs Fachzeitschriftenartikel, die in peer-reviewed Journals angenommen wurden und verschiedene Aspekte lokaler Aushandlungsprozesse thematisieren.

This cumulative dissertation examines the negotiation processes of migration in rural case studies, with a particular focus on forced migration in Germany. In this context, rural regions are regarded as both spatial contexts for migration processes and as spaces of production of migration societies. The framework perspective is based on the 'local migration regime' approach. This dissertation primarily employs qualitative data from two research projects conducted between 2018 and 2023 in various municipalities of different sizes in Germany: the collaborative research project 'Future for Refugees in Rural Regions of Germany' and the international collaborative research project 'Whole-COMM - Exploring the Integration of Post-2014 Migrants in Small and Medium-Sized Towns and Rural Areas from a Whole of Community Perspective.' The dissertation comprises six journal articles accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals, each addressing different aspects of local negotiation processes.
