The paper is dealing with popular media constructions, which are connected to Austria through their musical-auditive elements and therefore represent auditive images of Austria. It reconstructs the concepts that mark these auditory representations by using Lotman’s model of the semiosphere and Todorov’s approach to otherness (identity, alterity and alienity). This also involves the systematisation of a broad spectrum on the surface, from which a common core concept of Austria can be determined – despite the wide range of musical performances.
