About the Journal
Focus and Scope
GAMMAS is an online journal for scientific contributions from students in the fields of applied mathematics and mechanics. We encourage the submission of articles that
- develop and/or experimentally validate models,
- develop novel analytic or numerical methods,
- introduce novel experimental techniques,
- combine and/or compare existing methods,
- provide introductions to modern topics that are not yet covered by standard textbooks, and
- report negative results.
GAMMAS is meant to provide students with an early opportunity to make their work accessible to the scientific community. In particular, we also accept contributions which contain literature surveys or negative results which might not be considered suitable for publication by other journals. Originality and a rigorous scientific approach are mandatory for any manuscript to be considered for publication.
We particularly encourage the submission of negative results, i.e. articles which give a detailed account of an unsuccessful approach to a problem.
In addition to regular articles, we maintain an educational section for tutorials, projects, and experiments. This section is open to non-student authors and focuses on lecturers, students, and school teachers as potential readers.
GAMMAS is an open-access online journal. All content is published under the Creative Commons License “Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)”.
GAMMAS is run by the GAMM Juniors, who are part of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik GAMM e.V.).
