Abstract

The article presents in its first part an overview of how musical and visual elements can generally interact and interlink within the film. It focuses especially on the potential of music to produce and influence narrative structures and strategies. Based on this, the contribution then examines – by taking the example of the Heimatfilm of the 1950s – how film music affects and leads the filmic narration in this genre and which semantics it connects to the items ‘music’ and ‘music-making’.
